I had intended to read this series in order, but with a boring plane trip facing me, I had to take the books that were availabel on the library shelf. Since Block has his formula well established for this series, reading out of order doesn't really matter.
But I continue to love this series. This one is a play on English country house murders--a fact the characters freely and frequently mention. Bernie goes to a b &b in upstate New York intent on stealing a copy of the The Big Sleep, singed by Raymond Chandler
to Dashiell Hammett. Intead, of course, a murder (or rather a series of murders) occurs and Bernie solves the mystery.
