This was a mystery set in the North Shore of Chicago (with way too many street locations and local landmarks listed; I used to live there and at times felt that I was back on a visit). A girl is murdered at a Forest Preserve following a high school hazing. She is from a more middle class family than her peers who are all from real wealth. The heroine, a Private Investigator who is on an indefinite suspension from a local Police Department, is hired to investigate her killing after an autistic man is arrested and steamrolled into the Court system for the murder. There is lots of mentation about her former paramour (and yes, he does turn up) and lots of basic investigative work. I would say that the book is slightly better than a three but not equal to a four. It is good summer reading.
