Sahara by Clive Cussler
This was the first Clive Cussler I read and I really enjoyed it. Enough to hunt down all the other books he had written which were published before I was old enough to appreciate them! I found the story gripping and exciting and just close enough to reality that it could happen. And of course, Dirk Pitt is a great leading man ;) After reading more Cussler, I realised they do get slightly generic, but even so, I always enjoy reading Cussler.
