I would have given this book 2 stars if it weren't for Leah Frizzell, and the compassionate portrait of eccentric Mountain folk, which is priceless. The roller-coaster ride in which the heroine adores her saintly soul-mate, then believes him capable of murder, then back again ad nauseum is deplorable, worse then the cheesiest such devices in any harlequin paperback. You can play the Bourne card once, and only once in a plot, then it gets old. A good fix for Twilight withdrawal, and some lovely moments in which the side characters are 3-D and delightful. I would like to see the author write a non YA romance, about NC/TN mountain folk, with real tragedies and real lives. I think she would do it well.
