Four year old Emily Gillette is playing in her backyard when she sees a man lying facedown by the side of the house. She tells her mother, Honor, that there's a sick mam in the yard. When Honor goes to investigate, she sees the man has blood on him and as she tries to call for help the man grabs her from behind and takes her inside. As Honor looks at the man, she recalls seeing him on tv lastnight as the man who murdered seven people and the police are out looking for him. When Emily comes in a minute later, Honor instructs her to go watch television. As the man checks to ensure there is no one else in the house, he tells Honor he wants to know where her dead husband hid an extremely valuable item before his death. Although Eddie, who was a cop, was killed in a car crash, the man, Lee Coburn, leads Honor to believe that her husbamd was a dirty copy and that his death was intentional. As time goes on, Honor sees a gentler side to Lee Coburn by his tender way he treats Emily.

A terrifying story of betrayal, trust, romance and the quest to finally get to the bottom of what is turning into a horrific nightmare.
