Sara's review
The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 4) by Rick Riordan
The Percy Jackson series is so great (though I don't think I've reviewed any of the others on here...). I love how the author blends Greek mythology into the plots and how many different myths are incorporated into each story. In this one, Percy is sent on a quest with his friends to navigate the underground Labyrinth, which is apparently a sprawling maze designed to trick you. Today, this maze is under the USA and somehow, in it, they are able to walk from New York to California and everywhere in between, since the magical place is not confined to our mortal standards of distance. Clever stuff. The author does such a great job with keeping the story fast paced in the right spots, including touches of humor here and there, and the narration definitely sounds like it's coming from a teen boy. I enjoyed this book as much as I did the previous ones, and it ends with a bit of a cliffhanger so now I am even more eagerly awaiting the release of the 5th installment next year.
