This is such a wonderful book - it really makes me wish I could have a "library cat" at the branch where I work! Dewey is the true story of a cat who was put in an outside book drop in the dead of winter in Spencer, Iowa. When the opening staff found him, they brought him inside to clean and warm him up. Then they decided (with the approval of the town council and mayor) to keep him as their library's resident cat. Dewey was in some way unusual for a cat - he loved everyone and wanted to be the center of attention at all times. Vicki Myron, the library director and Dewey's rescuer, does an excellent job of telling Dewey's story while also telling the story of Spencer and her own personal story as well. This is a wonderful, sweet story that would make anyone want to have a cat at work!
