I'm a little hesitant to give this four stars because of readability issues--it was tiresome in places and kind of a slog. Too emotive, also, I thought (the author says in the preface and afterword that he intentionally didn't edit much, in order to keep this a true record of his torment and suffering, etc., but the book would be more readable if he or someone else had edited it a bit more.

Anyway, I decided I had to give it 4 stars because of how interesting the world he describes is, and I can't imagine a better perspective from which to get this story.

I'm glad Turow wrote this, and I'm glad I read it.
