The Great Inversion and the Future of the American City
by Alan Ehrenhalt
by Alan Ehrenhalt
The overall observation of this book, that going forward more and more people who could live anywhere will chose to live in urban areas, rings true to me and is well articulated. Ehrenhalt presents a host of interesting examples of how this might take place, drawn from all over the country. I found these especially interesting, though I was a little concerned as his descriptions of the cases that I am most familiar with--Philadelphia and Arlington--didn't totally jibe with my experiences in those places.
