A book that at times felt like it was trying too hard. As what was supposedly another classic entry in the cyberpunk genre I couldn't help but compare it to Neuromancer. It really doesn't come off too well against that, at times it feels more like an in-joke for Stephenson (particularly in the awful name of the main character).

The biggest saving grace this book had was Y.T. for the 1st 2/3 of the book, although she went poor for the final run. I really can't imagine ever reading this one again and for recommendations I'd suggest the immensely superior Neuromancer.

Still, it was above average, and just about scraped a 6/10 rating (it was on course for a 7 until Y.T. went downhill and the ending happened).
