I'm giving this five stars, but I don't know if this would get that high a rating from me if I hadn't seen Mr. Galaxy on his show My Cat from Hell. This book is partly about his cat, partly about dealing with cats, but mostly about being a broken human being trying to put the pieces of his life back together and having cats help him with that in some instances (he did a lot of it himself, however, and I think he deserves more credit than he gives himself in this). It's a quick read, vivid and unrelenting in how he opens his own addictions up and faces them. I applaud his willingness to do that. Also his journey of realizing that it's not about him (or us as owners), it's about the animals (especially when it comes time to let them go). This book is probably for cat lovers who also know what it's like to be a bit dinged up emotionally. If you get a chance to watch the show--a couple eps are on iTunes--try it out before you read this so you get a feel for the man's energy. He's amazing with cats. Cesar's soul brother for the feline set. : )

Lisa (Harmonybites) I definitely saw this guy on TV. (That guy I mentioned dealing with an unspayed cat) and he's definitely the soul brother of Caesar Milan only with felines. I didn't know his background though. And wow, you almost never give *anything* five stars.

I know. Especially animal books since they usually seem to be about the person when they are billed as about the animals. But this seemed to strike a nice balance and his story resonated with me.
