The Fish That Ate the Whale: The Life and Times of America's Banana King

Interesting story. I've been hearing awful stories about United Fruit since all our wars in Central America in the 1980s: Panama, El Salvador, Nicaragua; and the genocide in Guatemala called the civil war. This biography of one of Cohen's "tough Jews" goes to the heart of how and why they came to hold such power in the region. A man with great abilities to study something from the ground up and see how to fix the weak spots, Zemurray comes across as a guy with complex motivations and questionable tactics but who worked hard for the power he achieved. I think this might be a good textbook for discussion in college business classes.
