Okay, this was deeply silly. I mean really, beyond the pale silly. It was fun, but definitely sacrificed little things like plot, continuity, and coherence for downright silliness. It was the kind of book I'd be highly tempted to read to my kids, if it weren't for the odd moments of sudden bloodshed, and some very grown-up (if not adult) themes.

Um, I'm not sure if I can even summarize it. There are these pirates, see. And they get tricked into capturing the Beagle with Charles Darwin on it, whose brother was kidnapped by the Bishop to prevent him from showing off his intelligent chimp, and who is turning young women into soap... oh, never mind. :)

I might read another one. :)
