This well-known title is the story of the Joads, forced to leave their home because of, well, everything! They hope to find a better life in California, as do a couple of hundred thousand other people. Of course, this makes more too many people to do too many jobs, and the story is just heartbreaking, heartbreaking! The story is told in two styles, in alternating chapters. The first style is terse, hardly made of complete sentences at all - brief accounts of the migration as a whole. This alternates, pretty much chapter by chapter, with much longer chapters describing the Joad family in particular.
