This Dickensian novel has been getting rave reviews from most critics -- Entertainment Weekly and The Onion's A.V. Club both gave it an A- -- and it is a good read but it's not a great one. The cast of characters and attention to detail (I particularly liked the mousetrap factory and the town of North Umbrage itself) are great, but the plot is a little lacking at times. Tinti shows promise in her debut, but I hope next time the tale itself is a little more developed.
