With vampires being very popular among young adults, I would have to say that this is a good read.
The story takes place with Ellen, a sixteen year old girl, who goes to stay with her grandmother because she has a bad blood condition and her mother fears that she is going to die soon. While Ellen is staying with her grandmother she stumbles upon her great, great grandmother Elyn's diaries that she wrote when she was sixteen years old. As Ellen begins reading the diaries she is overcome by her dreams and is able to find herself in a different era dealing with the things that Grandma Elyn dealt with. Ellen soon realizes that history may repeat itself in her own life.
Celia Rees is a tealented writer and I am enjoying other books written by her, I can see where there would be an interest in her books among young adult readers.
