Not nearly as good as "The War Against Boys" by Christina Hoff-Somers, as Peg Tyre totally misses many educational options that are open to parents and seems to think that traditional institutionalized schooling is the only valid way to teach a child, male or female. Her conclusions gave me the impression that she was wildly running around rearranging the furniture on the Titanic, hoping it will keep it afloat.

If you're interested in this topic, I would recommend skipping this book altogether and go straight to "The Underground History of American Education" by John Taylor Gatto. Once you understand how our system of public education came into being and why, you'll be able to understand how the problem of educating our children can best be fixed.
