Rex Riders is an interesting young adult Western with dinosaurs and aliens. Unfortunately, it was not able to catch my interest and I stopped somewhere between 100 and 200 pages in. However, this does not mean I think others wouldn't like it. My main complaint was that the characters were very flat and did not respond like real humans would. The POV was a sloppy third person omniscient which jumped from the thoughts of one character to another without any rhyme or reason…making the narrative very confusing. The story, on the other hand, was creative and interesting. If I weren’t so frustrated with the POV problems and the flat characters, I would have loved the story, I think. Therefore, this book is for people who want a light, fluffy read—not for people who want a tight, well-written story.
