Prior to reading this, I had, in fact, read Ms. Lancaster's first novel, "Bitter is the New Black."

The new work details the author's fictionalised account of her attempts to lose weight. The book is a great discussion of what it's really like; over the course of the work, she tries Atkins, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, and finally a personal trainer.

At times, the ascerbic quality of her personality made me want to scream, but overall it's a fun read for anyone who's ever been on a diet, and started eyeballing small children as a possible entree.
