Big plus to author for no instantaneous love!
Only two stars because I did not like author's voice or more accurately this type of first person narrative. I found it jarring and it made most other characters flat and unrealized. Add to that a plot that was simplistic, overly convenient, unbelievable and full of cliches.
Unlike many others I found main character's self-image realistic, but not her total obliviousness to changes and self-realization happening in course of the book. OK for not believing in them but not realizing changes are happening ( weight, self-worth..), it's just unrealistic and again unbelievable.
If I read this book as a teen I probably would have found it more enjoyable and less flawed.
