I was really disappointed with this novel. Usually the book suggestions from NPR are spot on, but this one tanked.

I did finish it, which means it's a step higher than some novels I've encountered, but I mostly skimmed the last half.

I found the main character really annoying and stupid. For someone who was supposed to be from NYC, the character is unbelievably naive. Her shallowness is incredible, even as she describes the vapid people she works for in NY.

The writing wasn't anything spectacular and I got really tired of hearing about the main character's Pier One Italian striped bowl.

The environment wasn't well-described, either. I couldn't make sense of the size of the town she moved too. First it seemed like a hole in the middle of nowhere, but then she makes reference to various nationwide stores and these apparent discrepancies really irritated me.

The story is dull and the resolution is dull. Don't bother with this stinker.
