I absolutely love these books. The intrigue, the backbiting, the switching allegiances... all of it is handled beautifully.

My main criticism of this installment is the way Martin chose to break the story, excising some POV characters and putting them in the fifth novel which, essentially, runs concurrently with this one. Although Jaime has fast joined him as one of my favorite characters, I missed my Tyrion desperately and can't wait to pick up A Dance of Dragons so I can find out what's happened to him!
