John R. Rickford is world-renowned authority on the topic of AAVE (among other linguistic topics). A very careful and sophisticated scholar, a longtime professor at Stanford. I had the privilege of being his student, and of course, shameless plug: I like that a small piece of this book reflects my research finding. Really need to follow up on that study...
