I enjoyed Sharp Objects more, although that could have been just because I read it first. Flynn's strength is creating flawed, grotesque characters, and also has a knack for writing tense family scenes.

I thought this one dragged a little in the middle, and the big reveal at the end to be a little overcooked. However, it's still a nice piece of Southern Gothic fiction.
