All right, so this was NOT the most interesting young adult novel I've read in a while. It's incredibly long and has too many boring details. I kept wondering how young readers were going to stay engaged when my mind kept wandering. The characters were only so-so interesting. I felt like for a 400 page story, Macy and her mom could've been slightly less one-dimensional characters. Wes was all right. The scenes with the catering crew were my absolute least favorite so that ought to tell you how much I liked those characters.
I can appreciate what Sarah Dessen was trying to do with this novel, but I don't think I can really appreciate the end result. I don't think I'd recommend this book to too many readers.
