really liked it

Gave this a fourth star because it kept me intrigued - finished this one quickly. One of the main characters, Sharko, is schizophrenic and both main characters are deeply flawed - just the way I like my fictional cops. On the other hand, either the author or Sharko's a xenophobe, and I found that distracting. The plot is novel but gruesome. The ending is good, but just as a head's up - it's got a serial style cliff-hanger.

17.0% "I like Sharko - my type of fictional cop - he's flawed and brilliant. And the book has a great grittiness. Not for the squeamish."
