Barbara Excellent, well- researched book about Henrietta Lacks. Henrietta was a young black woman who died from cervical cancer. During her treatment, the cells from her tumor were harvested and became the start of the famous HeLa cells that continue to thrive today. This is the story of Henrietta, her children and family, and the impact that her cells have made in medical research. Unless you have some interest in cell biology, you may find parts of the book dull or uninteresting, but stick with it because the story of the family is well worth the read.
