5/12- I'm having a hard time getting into this. It is written with some elegance and I have the feeling the author desperately wants me to connect with these characters. But I don't. May become abandoned book. Will give it 50 more pages because the reviews were pretty good. As one of my goals is to be able to say, "It's ok to not finish a book," we will see...Updates to come. 5/17-I see all the good reviews but this book just wasn't for me or maybe I wasn't in the right mood. The writing was lovely but I felt nothing and that is essential.

Gretchen This book sounds like it has such a lovely premise. So hard when people I trust there book critiques have opposing views.

Leslie Kent Well but we all have our differences. But I know what you mean. Some people on here like yourself and Annika, Stacey, I have spoke w so long I know what similarities we have and what mutual book choices we might like. But I haven't given up hope yet

Caroline I think it's good that you gave up on it if you weren't enjoying it. There are too many good books out there and such a short life to live. No reason to waste your time if you're not having fun reading. I have heard mixed reviews of The Snow Child. I want to read it, but I won't hesitate to give up on it if I dislike it.

Leslie Kent Yes this was a few months back but as I was editing my 2012 too list I saw that one had snuck in. Lol! I still have a hard time giving up on books but am waaaay better than I used to be. Much easier to cut the cord. Because you are so right. There's too many out there waiting for me!
