Apparently you and I agree on this book, some other people really hated the ending (some, for reasons of their own which had nothing to do with the writing or the mystery). I have heard that the next book will be the last in the series; Spencer-Fleming is speaking at my local library next month and I will probably find out more then.

I had heard that she planned to end the story with the next book too. Then I saw a blog post of hers where she said she might continue but making Hadley the main focus instead of Russ and Claire.

I imagine the ones that didn't like it were opposed to a priest having sex outside of marriage. They are entitled to their opinions, I just disagree because I thought that scene was one of the best written yet in a series full of wonderfully written scenes.

I never thought of that...actually one person was upset because she thought Russ and Claire would end up having children, and that Russ was too old (based on her own experience of having a father who was 50 when she was born and started having strokes at 55). I thought this was odd in a number of ways and yet, for all I know I may have similar reactions to other books for my own weird reasons. I am in a blogring with a lot of women clergy and most of them who read mysteries are quite fond of Spencer-Fleming's work!
