I am not one to pick up a book about people in the medical field, but this one intrigued me. 6th (and latest) in a series, this book is a prequel of the life of Dr. Fingal O'Reilly, and talks about his years as a student doctor and his life during that time. I have never read a book by Taylor before, and I found his writing easy and fluid to read, even interspersed with medical and Irish dialogue. A handy Irish glossary is in the back and I found myself flipping to it occasionally, because I had no clue what certain phrases meant (even in the context of the sentence)

I look forward to reading more of his novels...definitely a favorite!
