This book is an emotional roller coaster of a read and it made me cry.
It is also a thought provoking read.
Tom Sherbourne is released from the horrors of WW1 and becomes a lighthouse keeper on a remote island in Australia, between the Indian and Southern oceans, hence the title of the book.
The story begins when a boat washes ashore and inside is a dead man and a crying baby.
The story switches back to when Tom meets Izzy and they marry and try to have children, with difficulties.
Then they find the crying baby-what should they do now ?
I can't say too much more as it could spoil the book, however this is a great read, atmospheric and really emotional,i have been thinking about the book ever since reading it.
It is about our conflicting emotions, our actions and the repercussions of these on ourselves and other people.
To me it is like the rippling effect of our actions like the ripples of water or oceans.
Highly recommend this book.
