Mitter is accused for the murder of his wife, Eva and is found guilty. It's an open and shut case but then Mitter is murdered which makes the case suspicious and then there's a string of investigation that takes us through the climax of a very tantalizing CRIME MYSTERY THRILLER.
This is my first Nesser book and it left me wonderstruck! It's captivating, changes paces at the right moments and Van Veeteren is such a bad-ass protagonist but I never felt the story was only about him, it's what you call an ensemble book. A good read and enjoyable and dark and funny.
