Mr. Rutherfurd is our new James Michner. His description of the beginning of places and how they formed are just incredibly fascinating. I had no desire to visit Ireland until I read this book. If you love historical fiction, or any kind of history, this book is going to sing to you.

I am still able to visualize how the clans were divided into areas of Ireland, and how mergers changed the landscape and texture of this country. I see now how the Celts, Vikings and Spanish impacted the citizens of Dublin.

This was not a slow read like many historical novels can be. I absolutely loved this Rutherfurd book and I loved New York, and now getting ready to read London.
