When Women Were Birds: Fifty-four Variations on Voice
by Terry Tempest Williams
by Terry Tempest Williams
A array of short essays written about her mother's journals. Her mother left her an entire set of journals with the instructions not to look in them until she died. After her death, Williams discovered that all of the journals were blank. She makes much of the symbolism of this -- women have obscure or hidden voices etc. Very good!
