Excellent historical fiction writing set during Colonial Britain in India with the Indian slave and opium trade times. This is the first of 3 books.
Based in 1850's India at the beginning of the Opium Wars, following 5-10 characters whose stories connect later on a boat, the rich history and descriptions make the book. An epic story of many characters but the plot is slow.
This is rated more a 3.75 but not a 4* since it is a tougher book to recommend.
2 out of 5 in my book club really enjoyed this book.
