I'm being generous with the three stars; this was nowhere near as awful as I expected, but it was also nothing special. I will say that this appears to be a different ghostwriter to the one writing TVD, as the tone was at least closer to LJ's, and the writing was not as abysmal. However, nothing really happens in this book. Despite a circle packed with characters who have yet to see their own subplots or deep development (Suzan, Melanie, Deborah, et al), the "author" brings in a useless new character named Scarlett. The story feels short, skimp, and extremely predictable. Cassie acts like a ditz, Adam a dolt, and Diana is suddenly a total bitch (bizarre). The fun moments here all come from Faye.
