I'm a 6th Grader. My teacher recommended me to read this book in school. In the story the "Island of the Blue Dolphins," the main character, Karana, was a 12 year old girl that had to survive on a island for 18 years until she tries to escape. Karana went through many difficult problems while she was on the island. She meets Rontu, a dog that leads a pack of vicious dogs that got rid of something that was really important to Karana.

The main/central idea of the "Island of the Blue Dolphins" is that Karana has to survive and be resourceful of her surrounding and be able to make shelter and a fence with the materials that she has to go off of. Then keep herself alive from Rontu and the pack away using the fence

I really recommend this book to people that like to read about survival and to other that like to read on general.I would really like to have other middle schoolers. I give Scott O' Dell a thums up while right this book and i do recommend reading the other books that Scott O' Dell wrote
