** spoiler alert ** The leader of a mystery book club I belonged to suggested this series. I was interested, but kept putting it off. Now I read that it is the basis of a new TV series. So I ran right out to the bookstore and bought all the books in the series so I could be ahead of the game. The first novel introduces us to the mind-reading barmaid Sookie Stackhouse, her neighbor and soon to be boyfriend Bill (the vampire)Compton. And if that isn't enough to intrigue you, well into the book we find out her boss Sam is a shapeshifter who visits her as the collie she names Dean. This was a fun book based on the theory that vampires are the country's newest minority group trying to gain equal (like fun!)rights. Based in Northern Louisiana one of the vampires is even a very familiar face formerly associated with a mansion called Graceland in Memphis.
