I liked seeing a happier Harriet in this book. Reading Gaudy night, I felt like I needed to keep a dictionary and some sort of Oxford Companion book near me at all times. Sometimes I just felt that Dorothy Sayers was much smarter than me, and that it would take heavy concentration to get her meanings. I loved the rich density of her prose, but in some ways I appreciate the levity that Jill Paton Walsh brings to the Wimseys... this book felt like Dorothy Sayers on training wheels.
