This was a decent enough read. It's apparently a follow-on to a previously successful book, 'Relic.' Relic sounds familiar and I may have read it, but ... not sure. Doesn't really matter.

All the action takes place in the tunnels under NYC. Dark and wet and spooky. Eugh. Interestingly, the 'creatures' weren't really the focus of this book - the real stars of the book are scientists and cops.

My main gripe is that the action is very choppy - short 3 and 4 page chapters, jumping to another area / set of problems, then around and around from one problem and set of people to another, like a round robin. Reads more like a screenplay (which, I'm quite sure, was intentional). The ending was a wee bit overblown - definitely 'cinematic.' Reminded me of the Indiana Jones 'Temple of Doom' flick.

Anyway, a nice fast read, and it held my interest throughout. So - a decent enough one.
