Joe's review
Perfect Madness: Motherhood in the Age of Anxiety by Judith Warner
My favorite take-away from this book is the idea that perhaps if parents of my generation had been willing to put kids in playpens during their infancy, they wouldn't be so damn dependent on us for stimulation, entertainment, dispute resolution and company in their later childhood years.
But no, we were told that playpens were "baby jail" and therefore cruel and inhumane.
