Absolutely amazing, I have not read anything by this author before and now I plan to stick my bookworm nose into as many as I can get my hands on. Bray's attention to historical detail is brilliant as she submerges you in the world of 1920s New York through clever, witty dialogue and minute attention to detail. Evie makes for a strong, conflicted character who is impossible not to love as she struggles and grows within the narrative. The paranormal element is never overwhelming and plays nicely on the exploration of spiritualism around this time, I also loved the gentle hint of steam punk themes towards the novels conclusion. Murder, mystery, ghosts, adventure, conspiracy and romance, this novel has got it all and I can't wait to see where this series goes. Thank you to the publishers for giving me a reading copy, this is going to get recommended heavily by me on its release in the UK.
