Suzanne's review
Aquariums of Pyongyang by Kang Chol-Hwan
I enjoy reading about history that has happened during my lifetime. This memoir gives the life of the author's family leading up to and including their internment at a political concentration camp as well as their release and the author's eventual escape from North Korea.
I was not very familiar with the actual situation in North Korea so it was very enlightening. It covered a lot of time for the actual length of the memoir. It seemed to conclude very quickly with less detail similar to many thriller or mystery novels. I enjoyed it though nonetheless. It is inconceivable to me the amount of trials human beings can survive or overcome.
