** spoiler alert ** What an awesome book this was. Taking place in a small town in Scotland, this is about 4 college friends, Ziggy, Mondo, Weird and Alex. They stumble upon a badly stabbed bar maid who later dies as they try and save her. They are accused of the crime and spend a good deal of time defending themselves while their friendship is deeply strained. The second half of the book is 25 years later. After going on with their separate lives the crime was never solved but with new technology with DNA, the case is revisited. In addition, the son of Rosie appears as well. No one knew about him. Alex has married Mondo’s sister, Lynn and they have a daughter. Weird has religion, a wife and bunch of kids. Ziggy is gay and lives with his partner and Mondo is married and trying to deal with his life since his suicide attempt after the murder and his guilt for the death of a cop who tried to rescue him. Ziggy and Mondo are murdered and everyone thinks it’s the son. He is definitely involved with the case, but he is not a murderer. So, who did it? The first cop on the scene, Lawson. This book had all the right ingredients for a perfect mystery. Very well written and great character development.
