Alcestis: In a Version by Ted Hughes by Euripides
It's a shame Hughes didn't live longer to make more translations. I love the spare style he uses in this and The Oresteia. But don't read this thinking it is Euripides. This is a Ted Hughes play based on Euripides' Medea. He reworks it to give a modern, meta-critical feel. Compare to a more traditional translation.
