Just extraordinary...
This is a beautiful story for adoptive families and is meant to be read aloud to children. This is targeted for those who adopt a Chinese child and each page is translated into Mandarin. The illustrations are delightful.
It is written from two points of view, the mother's and the daughter's. You flip the book to read the other's point of view and the red thread connects the two sections.
The mother's section describes the sadness of not having a child and the heartwrenching wish for one...the illustration is of the mother wishing upon a star....from the daughter's point of view she is in an orphanage and wants a family. She too wishes upon the same star. They have chosen each other.
Then the process begins. The mother gets a photo....she shows it to EVERYONE! She packs the suitcase....there are forms, visits to the consulate etc...It tells a story not unique to China, but to international adoption. The only thing missing is the dad. There is n...more
