Love the idea of an anti-Ender's Game. Well, that's not exactly right. But given the title, you likely get the point.

And the story of how members of the Old Farts Club become elite space soldiers is great. The battles they fight? A little boring. And, after the basic premise is established, the book seems to lose all semblance of an arc. It was sort of like short stories about space war.

That said, I liked the characters -- and the many, many worlds -- enough to pick up its sequels. We'll see if they're a little better plotted.
