A bit of a departure from the dark melancholic brilliance of the first book. This sequel somehow manages to straddle popular shock fiction and young adult caper. Not a bad book but not the intense fatalistic gripper that Duncan produced with The Last Warewolf. I was struggling to work out what was missing and the only thing I could come up with was Empathy. This book is told by a young American Female as opposed to the gruff mature male in the first instance. I'm sure it will be enjoyed by more readers but my preference is with it's predecessor.
