Grave Mercy was a welcome change from the "dark", "dystopian" YAs littering the shelves lately. A historical novel based during the time of Anne of Brittany's reign, it reminded me a lot of Jacqueline Carey's KUSHIEL'S DART books, but without the BDSM. Still, there is political intrigue and plots to be foiled, and I do love me a good historical novel with twisty intrigue. Totally looking forward to the next book in the series.

I mean, you can't go too wrong with the concept of assassin nuns in 15th century Brittany, right? Death's Handmaidens FTW!
