This mystery caught my attention on the bookshelf of one of my favorite neighborhood cafes here in Brooklyn. I started reading it over a glass of wine and had to take it home to finish (I'll return it today). It starts as a police procedural, then turns into something else. What first captured me was the unique and very readable style through the voice of the protagonist, Detective Mike Hoolihan.
